Our Tetrode Vacuum Tube Lineup

Our beam power tube lineup brings together compact ceramic tetrodes, rugged power-grid designs, and classic beam configurations in one place, so you can quickly compare options without jumping between multiple suppliers.

Each tube is specified with clear electrical ratings and mechanical details, making like-for-like replacement and future planning more straightforward for engineers, technicians, and purchasing teams.

From small chassis-mounted tubes through to larger external-anode styles, our range focuses on dependable construction, controlled tolerances, and predictable behavior over long operating hours. We prioritize carrying the most commonly used base types and ratings in this beam tetrode family, helping you minimize downtime and avoid redesigns when original tubes become harder to source.

Contact Us for All Your Beam Tetrode Tube Needs

If you are maintaining systems that depend on precise beam tetrode performance, our team can help match you to the right part number, configuration, and rating.

We also support OEMs and service companies looking for replacement Bystronic consumables and compatible tetrodes across their installed base. Penta Labs manufactures high-quality replacement tetrodes for well-known brands such as Eimac, while clearly identifying our products as aftermarket solutions rather than original factory tubes, so you know exactly what you are installing.

Whether you are browsing our radio tubes for sale, exploring hifi vacuum tubes, or checking options for CO2 laser tube replacement, you can count on consistent build quality and tightly controlled specifications.

Working with a single specialist source simplifies documentation, purchasing, and long-term support, especially when you are standardizing across multiple systems or locations. Our team can also coordinate future orders or scheduled replacements, so you always have critical tubes on the shelf before maintenance windows or planned upgrades.

How to Cross-Reference and Substitute 4CX Tetrodes

A 4CX designation is a starting point, not permission to swap any tube in the family. Before substituting a tetrode vacuum tube, confirm the exact number on the installed part and compare the manufacturer data sheet, socket or base, cooling path, filament requirements, operating position, frequency range, and plate, screen, and control-grid ratings. The surrounding tetrode tube power supply and airflow system must also support the replacement under the intended duty cycle.

Start with the Exact 4CX Designation

When an equipment manual calls for a specific 4CX model, the safest path is a like-for-like replacement with the same designation or a documented equivalent. Penta product guidance identifies the 4CX350AC/8321A as a direct replacement for the 4CX350A, with the same external dimensions and electrical characteristics except for a slightly longer warm-up time. Penta also lists the 4CX15000A as a direct replacement for 4CX15000A Eimac tubes. These examples do not mean other 4CX models are interchangeable.

Match the Socket, Cooling System, and Power Supply

Physical fit is only one part of a valid substitution. For example, the 4CX1000A uses forced-air cooling and an SK-800-series socket, while the 4CX3000A uses forced-air cooling with an SK-1400 socket. A tetrode vacuum tube that appears similar can still require different mounting hardware, airflow, filament current, or operating voltages. Confirm the tetrode tube power supply, chimney or ducting, and socket arrangement before treating a candidate as compatible.

Compare 4CX Models by Electrical Class, Not Appearance

The 4CX series spans very different power levels. Current Penta listings include the 350-watt 4CX350AC, 600-watt 4CX600J, 1,000-watt 4CX1000A, 1,500-watt 4CX1500B, 3,000-class 4CX3000A, and 15,000-watt 4CX15000A. Several are radial beam power tetrode designs, but a shared family name does not make their screen, grid, filament, socket, or cooling requirements equivalent. Match the installed design to the complete data sheet rather than moving up or down the range by wattage alone.

Check the Screen-Grid and Drive Requirements

A beam power tetrode uses both a control grid and a screen grid, so substitution checks must include the screen circuit as well as the plate circuit. A different screen-voltage or screen-dissipation requirement can make a nominally similar tube unsuitable for the existing tetrode tube power supply. The same applies to drive level, frequency, amplifier class, and duty cycle. If documentation is incomplete, send Penta Laboratories the installed tube marking and equipment model before ordering replacement tubes.

Not Sure Which Beam Power Tetrode You Need?

If you are uncertain which tetrodes will correctly replace an existing part, or you do not see your exact model listed, our engineering support team can usually help cross-reference specifications and suggest suitable alternatives.

We routinely assist customers who are working with obsolete part numbers, incomplete labels, or mixed fleets of equipment that need a coherent replacement plan.

As experienced vacuum tube dealers, we work with technicians and purchasing teams every day to identify compatible options, review data sheets, and avoid costly guesswork. Rather than guessing at a near match, you can lean on our experience with legacy broadcast, communications, and industrial platforms, reducing the risk of damaging sockets, power supplies, or expensive downstream components.

Send us the information you have, such as photos, nameplate details, or previous invoices, and we will help you narrow down the correct tetrode vacuum tube so you can move ahead with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

A tetrode is used to control or amplify electrical signals with four active electrodes: cathode, control grid, screen grid, and plate. High-power tetrodes are common in RF amplification, broadcast, communications, industrial RF equipment, and other systems that need controlled power at radio frequencies. The correct tetrode vacuum tube depends on the circuit, frequency, cooling, and power requirements.

The screen grid sits between the control grid and plate and helps reduce the control grid’s electrical interaction with the plate. In a beam power tetrode, the screen grid supports stable amplification and helps the tube operate efficiently at higher power. When replacing a tube, the screen-voltage and screen-dissipation limits must match what the tetrode tube power supply and circuit are designed to provide.

The basic difference in tetrode vs triode construction is that a tetrode adds a screen grid between the control grid and plate. That extra grid changes the tube’s electrical behavior and can improve isolation and gain in appropriate circuits. If you are comparing a tetrode vacuum tube with power triode tubes, do not treat them as drop-in substitutes because their circuits, sockets, biasing, and power-supply requirements can differ substantially.

A radial beam power tetrode is a high-power tetrode design that uses beam-forming structures with the control and screen grids to shape electron flow toward the plate. Models in Penta’s 4CX range use this architecture at multiple power levels. The exact model still has to match the electrical ratings, socket, airflow, and tetrode tube power supply requirements of the equipment.
